[June 07, 2023, Taibei News] LG Electronics has devoted itself to sustainable development, and announced its participation in RE100(Renewable Energy 100), promising to achieve 100% use of renewable energy by 2050 and practice global corporate citizenship.

LG has drawn up a plan to change all its business bases to 100% renewable energy by 2050. In order to achieve this goal, LG will gradually increase the proportion of green electricity (for example, solar energy and wind power), which is expected to increase to 60% in 2030, 90% in 2040 and 100% in 2050.

In addition to installing high-efficiency solar panels in the company's strongholds and manufacturing equipment to increase the power generation and consumption of renewable energy, LG will also implement a number of sustainable actions, such as obtaining renewable energy certificates (RECs), signing renewable energy power purchase contracts (PPAs), and paying a green premium to KEPCO in South Korea.

LG has never stopped to implement sustainability. Last year, it signed PPA with Korean power company GS EPS to build a solar power station with an area equal to three football fields on the roof of the existing comprehensive production building in LG Intelligent Park, Changwon City, South Korea before 2025. In addition, a certain number of solar panels were installed in a specific building in December last year, and power supply has started. LG will install solar panels on the roofs of various locations around the world, including the LG Sciencepark in Seoul, South Korea, the North American headquarters in New Jersey, USA, LG India stronghold in the greater Noida region of India, and the home appliance factory in Rayong, Thailand.

In order to accelerate the transformation of renewable energy and move towards carbon neutrality, LG will reduce the indirect carbon emissions generated when using electricity [2] (category 2); In 2019, LG announced the Zero Carbon 2030 Zero Carbon Plan, and also promised to achieve direct and indirect zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 (categories 1 [3] and 2).

Lee Sam-soo, Chief Strategy Officer of LG Electronics, said: "LG is fully committed to sustainability and continuous innovation, making great strides on the road of realizing 100% renewable energy transformation and becoming a carbon-neutral enterprise, and is committed to implementing the ESG vision of Better Life for All.
